Comedian | Political Satirist
Andy Zaltzman has firmly established himself in the vanguard of British comedy with his unique brand of political satire. He’s a terrific option for hosting corporate awards ceremonies or performing after-dinner cabaret. Delivering the sharpest observations on the state of current affairs, he is also extremely passionate and knowledgeable about sports; cricket in particular. Therefore not only a great match for sporting dinners, Andy would also bring a fresh change to audiences used to hearing from political or business after-dinner speakers.
Andy is the writer and host of worldwide hit satirical podcast The Bugle. Making his Edinburgh Fringe debut in 2001 when he was nominated for Best Newcomer, Andy has been a festival favourite ever since. His bespoke political comedy show Satirist for Hire has drawn audiences around the world, touring the UK, Australasia, Canada and the USA. His annual round-up shows of the year’s headline events have also become a fixture in the satirical calendar at London’s famous Soho Theatre.
Andy’s multiple television appearances include John Oliver’s New York Stand-Up Show (Comedy Central), 8 Out of 10 Cats (Channel 4), Russell Howard’s Good News (BBC Three), and Unspun with Matt Forde (Dave). Also a regular on BBC Radio 4, Andy frequently hosts The News Quiz, has appeared on The Now Show and previously co-presented Political Animal and The Department alongside John Oliver.
Outside of stand-up, Andy is well known as the BBC’s cricket statistician on Test Match Special. He commentated the BBC’s coverage of the World Cup, hosted Yes! It’s The Ashes for BBC Radio 5Live, and has covered sport for The Guardian.
“We had a fantastic day and Andy was the cherry on top! People were in stitches, I have no idea how his brain works like that but the very unique ability to mix cricket and comedy was just exceptional!”
