Bilal Zafar is an up and coming stand-up comic, writer and actor. With a friendly story-telling style, he has experience hosting awards ceremonies as well as performing at private functions and corporate events.

Bilal has taken three solo shows to the Edinburgh Festival to date, subsequently touring venues nationwide including London’s Soho Theatre. In 2016, Bilal was nominated for the lastminute.com Best Newcomer Award for his debut show Cakes. Earlier the same year, Bilal won the Hackney Empire New Act of the Year Award, joining the company of previous winners such as Stewart Lee, Joe Wilkinson,
Ardal O’Hanlon, and Linda Smith.

In recent years, Bilal has featured on BBC3, BBC Radio 4, BBC Radio 5 Live and BBC Asian Network. As a writer, Bilal created and performed a stand-up special for BBC Radio 4 and is one of the lead writers on Sketchtopia. He has also written articles for the Guardian and the Independent. On screen, Bilal starred in hit Channel 4 sitcom Catastrophe, Sky One series The Sick of It, and festive feel-good favourite of 2019 Last Christmas alongside Emma Thompson and Emilia Clarke.
