Musical Comedy Duo
Having played together in various forms for over 10 years, World Poetry Slam Champion Harry Baker teams up with BFF/Jazz musician Chris Read as the imaginatively titled ‘Harry and Chris’. The Comedy-Jazz-Rap duo are quite simply guaranteed to create a feel-good, uplifting atmosphere at any corporate event. Not only are their performances highly polished and tried and tested, they’re able to create bespoke material about the company and audience, giving a truly unique feel to your event.
Harry and Chris have generated a hugely loyal following with their family-friendly songs which have featured on The Russell Howard Hour (Sky), and heard on BBC Radio 2’s Live From the Edinburgh Fringe, BBC Radio 3’s The Verb, and BBC Radio 5 Live’s Sarah Brett Show. They recently starred in NBC’s flagship comedy entertainment show Bring The Funny with Kenan Thompson, Chrissy Teigen, Amanda Seales and Jeff Foxworthy. The Hook created a music video for their World Cup Song, and the pair performed their first joint TedX talk ‘Finding Joy Through Comedy-Rap-Jazz’, which was followed by their TEDxExeter talk ‘Songs of Hope for the Planet’.
Since their debut in 2016, the pair have had great success at the Edinburgh Fringe, selling out their 2017, 2018 and 2019 shows. Following their latest run, Harry and Chris embarked on their third national tour in 2019, and were nominated for Best Musical Show in the Leicester Comedy Awards earlier this year. With song topics ranging from panda re-population to coming of age to Robot Wars, and they bring love and laughter to a world that needs both more than ever.
Who are Harry and Chris?
World Poetry Slam Champion Harry Baker published his debut anthology ‘The Sunshine Kid’ with Burning Eye in December 2014. The subsequent show of the same name was voted ‘Best Spoken Word show’ of the Edinburgh Fringe Festival 2015. Now a fully fledged maths graduate and full time poet/adventurer, His work has been shared on TED.com and viewed millions of times worldwide, as well as being translated into 15 different languages.
Award-winning jazz musician and singer Chris Read performs nearly every day of the week in his hometown of London, as well as overseas. 2016 saw him bring out his debut album ‘If I Knew’, and perform at dozens of festivals including Montreux Jazz Festival, Cheltenham Jazz Festival and a sold out, 20-day run at the Edinburgh Fringe festival as part of ‘Harry and Chris’. He can be regularly seen performing solo, as well as part of the ‘Chris Read Quartet’.
