Musical Comedy Duo
Flo & Joan are the multi-award winning British musical comedy duo, and sisters, Nicola and Rosie Dempsey. Their hour-long special is now streaming in over 200 countries on Amazon Prime.
A hugely acclaimed live act, Flo & Joan’s last show Sweet Release was their fifth full-length show and their most critically and commercially successful show to date. Totalling 148 performances, the tour was twice-extended and also included runs at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival and Edinburgh Festival Fringe.
The pair have had high-profile television appearances on Live at the Apollo (BBC2), The Royal Variety Performance (ITV), Comic Relief’s Red Nose Day (BBC1), Jonathan Ross’ Comedy Club (ITV) and The Russell Howard Hour (Sky) and their songs regularly go viral online, amassing over 75 million views across social media. They have written songs for the West End musical Death Drop and written and performed songs for Evil (CBS/Paramount Plus), BBC Digital, Question Team (C4), Aardman, Horrible Histories (CBBC), Radio Times, Rob Delaney’s Stand Up Central (Comedy Central), Mark Watson Talks a Bit About Life, The Now Show and Fresh From the Fringe (all BBC Radio 4) and This Hour Has 22 Minutes (Canadian Broadcasting Company).
It was a storming night. They worked brilliantly with Sir Lenny Henry the host of the evening. Their song about 100 years of television and Radio Times, was champagne snortingly funny. They held a huge room of hundreds of cynical TV executives and celebrities. And all the talk in the room after the presentations was of their incredibly sharp and funny comedy, that had people in stitches. The musical introductions, varied from absurdly silly to very knowing and hilarious. It was a truly memorable night and the part that Flo & Joan played in making it possibly the best Radio Time’s cover’s party ever was ‘priceless’ in both senses of that word…
